Search Your Assets with CI HUB Connector

You can search your asset database as well as any other systems connected through CI HUB Connector using the Search icon in the panel.

Click the search icon to activate the search field and start exploring your connected sources.

Switching Between Connections

To quickly switch between different connected systems, click the white downward arrow next to the search field. This dropdown allows you to change connections and search within the selected database instantly.

You can easily move between all enabled connections without leaving the panel.

How Search Works

When you perform a search, CI HUB Connector runs a full-text search across all available asset information in the active connection.

The simplest way to search is by entering keywords.
For example:

  • cat dog

  • cat AND dog

Both searches will return assets containing cats, dogs, or both. However, the results may vary depending on how the connected system processes search queries.

Important: Full-text and Boolean searches (AND, NOT, etc.) only work if your connected source system supports these features.

Recent Searches

CI HUB Connector automatically saves your recent search queries.

When you click the small white downward arrow to the right of the search field, a dropdown menu will display:

  • The currently open document

  • Your recent search entries

This allows you to quickly repeat previous searches.

If you no longer need a saved search, you can delete it by clicking the white “X” on the red background next to the search term.

Similarity Search

A particularly powerful feature is Similarity Search.

This function is available only in systems that support it (for example, Unsplash or Adobe Stock).

If supported, you can select an asset and click the corresponding similarity icon to find visually similar assets. Matching results will appear in the Results area.

It’s important to note that Similarity Search is available in two places:

1. Under Navigation

  • Uses the asset selected with the selection cursor in your InDesign document

  • Searches for similar assets within the active connection

2. Under Details

  • Uses the asset selected directly inside the CI HUB Connector Results panel

  • Searches based on that selected asset

Both options work slightly differently but help you quickly find visually related content.
