What is the ExCoP?

The External Control Panel (ExCoP) gives you full control over assets used in your Adobe applications. It allows you to manage, track, and update assets that come from connected systems such as DAMs or cloud storage platforms.

“Full control” means you can perform a wide range of asset management actions directly within your Adobe environment.

Key capabilities of the ExCoP

With the ExCoP you can:

  • Link assets to your documents

  • Search and find assets in connected systems

  • Move assets between connected source systems

  • Upload assets from your local hard drive to a connected system

  • Transfer embedded assets from a document into a connected system

  • Switch between high-resolution and low-resolution files

  • Check the version of a placed asset, including timestamp information

  • Receive a warning when a newer version of an asset is available

  • Get notified when a locally placed asset has been modified

  • See whether an asset is available locally

  • Identify if an asset is embedded in the document

  • Detect missing files

  • Check if an asset has insufficient resolution

  • Identify the source system of an asset

  • View the asset’s remote ID (file ID in the source system)

  • See the rendition used for the placed asset

  • Check the asset’s location in the document, including a link to the page

  • View the local file path

  • See the last modified date

  • Check the file size

  • Run batch actions for checking, relinking, or uploading assets

  • If FADEL (Digital Image Rights Management) is connected, you can view rights information and licensing details for the asset.

Timestamps in the CI HUB Connector

The dates and times displayed in the CI HUB Connector always reflect your local time zone.

This means:

  • All timestamps shown in the asset details are automatically converted to your local time.

  • The conversion is based on the time zone settings of your operating system.

  • The CI HUB Connector receives the original timestamp data from the connected system via its API, and then converts it accordingly.

This ensures that the displayed time is accurate and consistent for users working in different locations.
