Working with Assets in WordPress
After installing the CI HUB Connector for WordPress, you can access and insert assets from your connected services directly inside WordPress.
Add an Asset to WordPress
In WordPress, assets that should appear on your website must be uploaded to the Media Library. The CI HUB Connector keeps this workflow the same, but allows you to access assets from external services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Unsplash directly from the Media Library.
This means you can use the same assets that are already stored in your cloud services or used in other projects, such as marketing materials or print documents.
To add an asset to a page or post:
-
Open the Media Library in WordPress.
-
Browse or search for the asset in your connected service via the CI HUB Connector.
-
Select the asset and click Use File.
-
If available, choose a Rendition (image format or size).
-
Click Use, confirm with OK, and then click Select to insert the asset.
The asset is automatically downloaded to the WordPress Media Library and placed in your page or post.
If the asset contains metadata (for example title or description), this information is also transferred automatically.
Additionally, the CI HUB Connector adds custom fields to the Media Library that provide extra information about the asset, such as:
-
Effective file name
-
Source path (where the asset was downloaded from)
-
File type
-
Version
-
Creation and modification date
-
Foreign key
The available metadata fields may vary depending on the connected service.

Add Vector Files to WordPress
The CI HUB Connector also makes it easy to work with vector files such as Adobe Illustrator (.AI) or EPS.
Normally, these files must be converted to JPEG or PNG before they can be used in WordPress. With the CI HUB Connector, this step is no longer necessary.
You can insert these files using Renditions, which automatically generate display formats like PNG or JPEG in different sizes (depending on the capabilities of the connected service).
This allows you to:
-
Use vector graphics directly in WordPress
-
Avoid creating duplicate files
-
Save time by skipping manual conversions
